My story began in 1954 when my father first took me on a photo shoot at a ranch near Hollywood, California. This was no ordinary ranch; it was a sprawling Western town with beautiful, scenic sights where Hollywood would film its movies. For my birthday, my dad had given me an inexpensive camera to use on these photo shoots, and from then on, my camera was always in my hand.
In 1964, while in Apple Valley, California, I met Larry. He, too, was passionate about filming what he saw, and we began to take "camera safaris" together. The thing was, I felt I could not fully capture the beauty I saw with the camera alone—something was missing. This led me to develop new post-processing techniques that finally fulfilled my artistic expectations.
In the finished image, I saw not what the camera saw, but what I saw. Over the years, I have kept refining these techniques until they have reached a point where they truly satisfy me.
Today, I would like to invite you to join me on this journey. I hope you will be inspired as I was traveling around the globe with a camera in hand, exploring to find the most beautiful and inspiring sights.
